How to make good use of available online games and develop effective games for language teaching and learning have become heated discussion topics in language education. This article is intended to provide an overview of online games that can be used in Chinese teaching and learning. The available online games can be grouped into the following three categories: Simple games that focus on vocabulary learning; complex games that can train comprehensive skills; and virtual worlds related games. In addition to offering a description of those games, the article discusses strategies of applying them in Chinese teaching and learning.
